Keep it Up Malala
Video taped by Jose Popoff's Class (Honduras)
A group of students and teacher sending their best to Malala Yousafzai.
Sunshine Bilingual School.
Like Nelson Mandela once said, ''Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.'' This is a right that every human being deserves. Education is what the world needs, by taking away this right you're taking away a child's future. With education you can be rich, with education you accomplish your dreams, with education you can be wise, with education you can conquer the world. That's why we support Malala's cause.

Fun with Snow and Hot tea from Russia
It is a precious and full of fun lesson from our Russian classpals. They introduced snow, how they had fun making snowmen and how they played with snow during this white season. They also demostrated us the hot tea tradition in Russia. The silver tea kettle "samovar" caught our eyes and we found it very beautiful and very special. What a great lesson from Russia!!! Thanks, kids! You have done a great job!

Today our skype guest was Lin-lin from Taiwan. She is an English teacher at elementary school. She can speak Chinese, Taiwanese, English and a little Spanish. Her hobby is swimming, reading novels and listening to the radio. She told us that in Taiwan it only snows in the mountains. Lin-lin has never been to Russia, but she would like to visit Saint-Petersburg, and Ulyanovsk, too.

A Letter form our Class Pal Tanfield Lea P. S., UK
Dear Linlin and your class,
I hope you are well and enjoying the holidays.
Thank you so much for the parcel you sent us from Taiwan. We loved seeing your logo decorated so beautifully and the fantastic English you used.
The parcel arrived on our last day of school and our Year 6 children have now left the school for the summer holidays (until 4th September) but they will return to their new secondary school which is 1 km up the road. Will you have the same students when you come back from your holidays?
If you do, my new class could reply to you (via mail or perhaps email) or if you have new pupils we could start developing their friendship earlier.
Speak to you again soon and best regards,
From: Year 6
TANFIELD LEA COMMUNITY PRIMARY SCHOOL, STANLEY, UK
Dear Year 6,
I am so happy to know that you already received our parcel! My classes will remain the same and they will become G6. We would be very excited to be your class pals to a new class of yours and also we would like to thank the students who wrote us and uploaded photos for us.
My school will resume on August 30th and we will surely keep in touch with you. I will take new photos or short video clips when my students are back to school.
Wish you a great summer vacation,
Best regards,
Linlin

A Letter from our Class pal in Uganda (5-5)
Dear all our Oddizzi classpals.
Time has flown by and we finish Year 5 tomorrow!!! We will end with a class party, swimming and a whole school assembly.
Most of us are going to Year 6 at Rainbow but some people are leaving and going to England, Scotland, Wales and Kenya.
This week we have been finishing lots of work, especially our DT project which was to make a moving toy using cams!!
We had WOW awards last week where a child in each class received awards for Achievement, Progression and Creativity. We also got badges for housepoints; 50 housepoints gets you a bronze badge, 100 a silver, 150 a gold and 200 a wise owl badge. Most of us also gained our pen licenses so we can write in pen in Year 6!
Some of us are really looking forward to Year 6 trips- we get to go for a week to the Rwenzori mountains as well as the chimp sanctuary and paintballing!!
Aslacton- we like your class pet Noodles- we read his blog and thought it was very funny. We would like to get a class pet next year!! Our favourite athletes are: Usain Bolt, Ngamba Mildred (she is our secondary PE teacher but she is also a sprinter and is trying out for the Olympics at the moment so watch out for her!), Tyson Gay, Tom daley, Kobey Bryant.
We also had our sports day last week. It was great fun and Kyoga won. We did many races including 600m and egg and spoon.
This week, as well as finishing our DT we have been using the ICT lab to go onto mathletics a lot. Do any of you use mathletcis in your school? It's great! We have also been reading The Secret garden in Literacy and watched the film on Monday.
In PE this year we have played Tag rugby, football, netball, basketball and golf as well as athletics and swimming. Tomorrow there is a staff versus children football match before the assembly.
Yesterday we got our yearly reports. Most of us were very pleased!!
We are all very excited about the holidays and some of us are going away. We will visit: Dubai, UK, Tanzania, Seychelles, South Africa, Kenya, Wales and Scotland.
We are sorry we have not been able to chat with you on skype but our internet connection has not been quick enough lately. Hopefully we will be able to keep in contact with you as we all move up a year. Next year we will be in 6SB with Mrs. Balasundar! Hope to hear from you then (we start back 30th August!)

G5-1's letter for Area 7
Hi dear Area 7,
Thank you for the very detailed introduction of your class and city. We love your photos, too!
Sorry for replying your e-mail so late. We have 15 boys and 15 girls in class. We are all 11 years old. Fo-Gong Elementary School locates in Kaohsiung (the biggest city in Southern Taiwan) and it is a public school. The age of the pupils here are from 7 to 12 (Grade 1~Grade 6) and we have a kindergarten class, age 5-6. The amount of students is 828 and we are middle sized school.
We don’t have Macbooks but some classrooms are equipped with smart boards which enable us to meet teachers or classes around the world. We enjoy doing projects which collaborate with other nations. It is delightful to make friends outside our country.
It is summer now in Taiwan and very hot (29-34 Celsius degree)…still, we like to play basketball, dodge ball and tennis. Our school has a very big sports meet every year and we have a tug-of-war school team and Grade 5 and Grade 6 have classes competition of the sport.
The link above is the race of tug-of-war in 2011, Grade 5-4 versus Grade 5-3.
We are learning Taiwan’s history from prehistory until now. Taiwan used to be called “Formosa” (beautiful island) by Portuguese (Taiwan had been occupied by other nations, such as Netherlands, Spain and Japan). We use traditional Chinese words unlike Mainland China and Singapore. They use simplified Chinese characters.
English is taught from Grade 3 here and only 2 classes per week, We learn Chinese, Taiwanese and English. We speak a little English and luckily we have many peers around the world which motivate us to learn more about the language and different cultures.
This semester is going to be end on June 29 and after we come back in September we will be grade 6 students. Our class is going to mail via air our drawings of Fo-Gong Babies (our school symbol) and there are greetings and questions we want to send to you before the end of the semester. Could we have your school’s address?
The following are photos from our class. Hope you like it.
Best regards from

What technical devices do you use for some of your activities?
Right now inAustralia it is beginning get colder and it is nearly winter since we live in the Southern Hemisphere. What season is it now in your country?
Area 7 is currently studying things about Ancient Greece. Here in Area 7 we have newspapers delivered to our door. We use the newspapers to read the Ancient Greek story “The Minotaur.†In our school we have students from Kindy to Year 7.
Every Friday the Year 5’s to 7’s have senior sport. The Sports we have are AFL,(Australian Football League), soccer, basketball, T-ball, volleyball, netball, hockey and league tag. Some of the sports are sports that are inter school sports that means that people selected in the teams may compete in the carnivals. We have had our Swimming Carnival and soon we will have the Winter Carnival. In your school do you have a time where senior children do sport?
InAustralia there are many Landmarks - Uluru is one that is very famous. Uluru is a rock that was formed by mother nature. In Perth there is a bell tower and it is called the Swan Bells. They are also called the Bell Tower . What famous landmarks are there in your country?
At Oberthur Primary we learn a second language which is Chinese Mandarin. In Chinese we are currently studying the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We are learning the chinese translation of the book. At your school are you learning another language other than English?

Little Green Thumbs t-shirts, E28
We are SO HAPPY to see our e-pals sending us their recent photos. They wear little green thumbs t-shirts and look so COOL!
E28 is our model of doing GREEN works in campus. It is very important to preserve a good environment for our next generation. In addition to planting trees and vegetables, in Fo-Gong, we have also a "no meat" lunch one day every month and we also serve vegetarian food every day for teachers and students who do not eat meat.
Have a look of our wonderful and lovely class pals! We enjoy it so much!

We received an e-mail from our Class Pal from Ireland!!! They have plenty of beautiful animals, exciting sports and cool weather. Here in Taiwan is just like summer (average temperture in Kaohsiung 22-32 celsius degree. We have a lot of great fruits in Taiwan and many pretty animals in the mountains. Children here play basketball, dodgeball and baseball a lot. We will also send class messages via this platform and keep in touch!

Dear G5
Hi everyone! We are 6th class (11-12) in Dublin, Ireland. We are a mixed school (boys and girls) and we have 24 people in our class.
In Ireland the weather is a bit rainy and windy now. Although there were hailstones last night. What's the weather like where you are?
What kind of animals do you have in Taiwan? In Ireland we have deer, foxes, many types of birds including seagulls, robins and magpies and squirrels!
In Ireland we love to play sports. We have three of our own sports called Gaelic football, hurling and camogie (which is hurling for girls). We also play rugby and football. We have a school Gaelic team for boys and for girls. The boys won their quarter-finals yesterday and we all got a night of homework! The girls are doing very well too and only drew one of their matches and won the rest! We also have a G.A.A (gaelic athletic association) club outside of school called O'Dwyers. All Irish sports are played in that!
What kind of sports do you play in your school or outside of it ?

We are so honored to read this lovely poem for the author of it--Ms. Mary Ann Hobberman. It is recommended by Ms. Raine, linlin's teacher friend in USA.
We also dedicate this short clip for 5-2's Class Pal, 6T @ Tanfield Lea Primary School, UK. Thanks to Jenny Coode at Oddizzi who introduced us to our classpal.

Inspiring and Meaningful Learning Activities in Class
Thanks to Mr. Saulnier and E28 keep sending us their recent interesting learning activities. The hands-on math project is so interesting and I would like to introduce it to G5-3 and try to do the same and see what comes out. It looks so cool ! In addition, World Earth Day is on the way and E28 gave us a great example of doing something to protect our environment. I put the link here in order to be role model or reference for G5-3 and other classes.

Here is some pictures of some recent happenings in our classroom. The first set of pictures is from a math project where we used recycled paper to make 1 meter cubed cubes to see approximately how many cubed meters our classroom is. We concluded that our classroom is about 88 cubed meters. The second set of pictures is from plants we recently planted. We are doing two projects with the plants: Tomatosphere and Little Green Thumbs. Please see the links below to learn more about our projects:
