Little Green Thumbs t-shirts, E28
We are SO HAPPY to see our e-pals sending us their recent photos. They wear little green thumbs t-shirts and look so COOL!
E28 is our model of doing GREEN works in campus. It is very important to preserve a good environment for our next generation. In addition to planting trees and vegetables, in Fo-Gong, we have also a "no meat" lunch one day every month and we also serve vegetarian food every day for teachers and students who do not eat meat.
Have a look of our wonderful and lovely class pals! We enjoy it so much!

Inspiring and Meaningful Learning Activities in Class
Thanks to Mr. Saulnier and E28 keep sending us their recent interesting learning activities. The hands-on math project is so interesting and I would like to introduce it to G5-3 and try to do the same and see what comes out. It looks so cool ! In addition, World Earth Day is on the way and E28 gave us a great example of doing something to protect our environment. I put the link here in order to be role model or reference for G5-3 and other classes.

Here is some pictures of some recent happenings in our classroom. The first set of pictures is from a math project where we used recycled paper to make 1 meter cubed cubes to see approximately how many cubed meters our classroom is. We concluded that our classroom is about 88 cubed meters. The second set of pictures is from plants we recently planted. We are doing two projects with the plants: Tomatosphere and Little Green Thumbs. Please see the links below to learn more about our projects:

Lantern Festival, 2012
Lin-lin @ Love River, Kaohsiung
Today (Feb. 6th) is Lantern Festival, the last day we celebrate Chinese New Year. The following is the main description of the origin of the festival and there are more exciting activities at other cities in Taiwan. You can take a look from the links I put in the end of this introduction.
The first month of the Chinese calendar is called yuan month, and in ancient times people called night xiao; therefore, the day is called Yuan Xiao Festival in mainland China and Taiwan. The fifteenth day is the first night to see a full moon in that lunar year. According to Chinese tradition, at the very beginning of a new year, when there is a bright full moon hanging in the sky, there should be thousands of colorful lanterns hung out for people to appreciate. At this time, people will try to solve puzzles on lanterns, eat yuanxiao ('元宵'in Chinese) (a glutinous rice ball, also known as simplified Chinese: 汤圆; traditional Chinese: 湯圓; pinyin: tāngyuán) and enjoy a family reunion (Wikipedia)

This Friday is Literacy Day at Queen E. The kids have read The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs! by Jon Scieszka. After they created wanted posters about the pigs in the story. Other activities will be focused around “Guess Who?” and “Where’s Waldo?”. Here are some pictures we have taken to share about our upcoming spirit day.
(Dear 5-3, we have this book in our library, too. Please find out what the book is and let me know when we are in the class this early February)

E28 has received the parcel we sent!
Today is Chinese New Year's Eve and the day we post every red couplets on our doors, walls and ....everywhere! I am so glad that E28 has also received our little parcel and put all the red things we sent on the bulletin board. What a lovely scene! And wish you all good lucks during the Year of Dragon!
January 20, 2012 (from Mr. Saulnier)
Wow! What an amazing parcel. Your class was really generous and we are really excited about the items you sent us. You can see our bulletin boards are now decorated for Chinese New Year! We framed the lovely calligraphy by Steven Lee to keep as a keepsake for years to come.
E28 is brainstorming some items to send you. We are trying to think of some things that represent our community and Canada. Hopefully we can make you a craft too.
Here is a short slideshow of us enjoying the package:
